Dive Master

The Divemaster course teaches you to be a leader and take charge of diving activities. Through knowledge development sessions, exercises and in-water technique seminars, and through practical assessment, you will develop the skills to organize and direct a variety of diving activities.

Topics and hands-on seminars include: 

• Supervise diving activities and assist with student divers
• Diver safety and risk management
• Complete programs and specialized techniques led by Divemasters
• Learn the diving business and your professional career
• Learn Diving Environment Awareness
• Organize and direct dives
• Make a map of an open water dive site
• Carry out diving briefings
• Organize a search and recovery project and deep dive
• Conduct a scuba review and a skin diver course
• Assist with Discover Scuba Diving programs and guide Discover Scuba Diving programs 
•  Your instructor may also offer Deep Diver and Search and Recovery Diver specialty courses along with your divemaster training to help you meet all requirements and expand your capabilities. You can earn academic credit for the Divemaster course – ask your instructor. *The fees for this course only cover your online training, assessments and certification card.

Prerequisites and Requirements

• Age Requirement 18 years or older
• Rescue Diver
• 40 logged dives
• CPR and first aid certification within 24 months
• Medical clearance to dive
• Time commitment (Approximately 50 hours)
